Long Island, NY – Across all manufacturing sectors here on Long Island, from Aerospace & Defense to Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, everyone has one common challenge: a shortage of skilled labor to fill vacant positions. This problem strains businesses’ ability to meet customer demands and expand operations. Long Island manufacturing went into the COVID outbreak with more than 8,000 unanswered help wanted postings across its 3,000 shop floors. The global pandemic exacerbated the workforce shortcomings while orders continued to flow in with international supply chain challenges. Today, unemployment benefits and stimulus funds have thwarted some from even applying to positions, further challenging businesses to find the labor they need to thrive.
To answer the call and create the much-needed labor pipeline, IgniteLI has partnered with Hireblue, a streamlined platform for connecting skilled profession and apprenticeship vacancies to qualified applicants, connecting the missing links. “We’re dedicated to helping students and experienced workers build their careers in skilled trades and match them up with fruitful vocations here on Long Island.” Said Hireblue Co-Founder Sam Sabin.
