MFG Reacts to Supreme Court Decision to Strike Down Vax Mandate
Last week the United States Supreme Court ruled that the Biden Administration’s Vaccination Mandate to companies of 100+ Employees was a constitutional overstep, striking it down in a controversial decision.
Long Island manufacturing businesses were poised to act and quickly enforce the mandate while struggling to fill critical vacancies on the shop floor. “No industry is more motivated to mitigate at-work outbreaks than manufacturers, where remote work is not an option and products are essential to the nation’s defense-industrial complex,” said Patrick Boyle, Executive Director of IgniteLI. During the COVID-19 pandemic, skilled labor has been dramatically impacted by the great resignation which compounded the supply chain shortage created by the pandemic.
“Mandates present immense challenges to attracting and retaining much-needed workers on the shop floor. We are thankful that Long Island’s manufacturers will continue making their own decisions regarding workplace safety and employee regulations,” said Boyle.
With infection rates down 74% across the country and the spring on the horizon, Boyle said he is hopeful that this spring will bring some much-needed relief to the economy and Long Island. #madeonlongisland
