IgniteLI Joins Kathy Hochul at her Historic Inauguration

(January 2023 Albany, NY) The Empire State welcomes its 57th governor at a landmark inauguration in the State’s Capitol, ushering in its first female Executive. IgniteLI, the Manufacturing Consortium of Long Island joined state leadership on Sunday, January 1st in Albany at the historic swearing-in and looks forward to Hochul’s leadership for the next four years in this term as Governor.

IgniteLI applauds the Governor’s commitment to addressing concerns such as safety and affordability which are key factors in our ability to attract and retain employees and businesses to New York and Long Island. Vowing to crack down street crime so that “New Yorkers can walk our streets, ride our subways and our kids can go to school, free from fear” the Governor will lay out a specific plan in her “State of the State” speech later this month. Also addressing the “lingering effects of the COVID Pandemic”, Houchel blames slow economic growth and the presumed economic downturn of 2023 for the lasting impacts of the pandemic.

IgniteLI Executive Director Patrick Boyle attended the swearing-in, representing Long Island’s Manufacturing Community. Patrick addressed his concerns, “The cost of living on Long Island and these stories about violent crime in the city is driving away skilled labor, hurting businesses across Long Island, and adding to uncertainty in the executive suite,” said Patrick. “I am encouraged that Governor Houchel will be tackling these issues in 2023, and I look forward to working with her office to make a better business environment for Long Island,” he went on to say. IgniteLI regularly contributes to regional business dialogue with government through the various boards and advisory committees it sits on, representing the interests of Long Island Manufacturing.
