Nassau BOCES Secures $1.88M Workforce Development Investment to Strengthen Long Island Manufacturing

Ignite Long Island is proud to recognize Nassau BOCES for securing a $1.88 million workforce development grant through the Empire State Development Office of Strategic Workforce Development. This investment represents a significant step forward in strengthening Long Island’s advanced manufacturing workforce and expanding training opportunities for the region’s next generation of skilled workers.

The funding will support the development of a new Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining program and the expansion of welding training programs. These initiatives are designed to help address workforce shortages across several critical industries, including advanced manufacturing, defense, aerospace, and shipbuilding—sectors that play an essential role in both Long Island’s regional economy and national security.

As demand for highly skilled manufacturing workers continues to grow, investments in hands-on technical education and workforce training are more important than ever. Nassau BOCES’ expanded programming will create new pathways for high school students, adult learners, and incumbent workers to gain industry-aligned skills and access high-quality career opportunities in manufacturing and related fields.
